For a place to eat or drink, the questions that matter most are simple: is it open now, how long is the wait at peak hours, and does the menu suit the group you are bringing. Canadian restaurants typically run lunch and dinner services with a quieter stretch in between, coffee shops open early, and many kitchens close earlier on Sunday. Debit and tap are accepted almost everywhere, a tip of 15-20% is customary for table service, and GST or HST (plus PST or QST in some provinces) is added to the bill.

The business lists hours on 2 days of the week. On most of those days it is open 8 a.m.–3:30 p.m.. Toronto is in Ontario, Canada's most populous province, where hot humid summers, colourful falls and snowy winters shape local life; the Greater Toronto Area, Ottawa and the Golden Horseshoe are dense enough for transit and walking, while smaller towns are car country. Canadian addresses list the street number and name, then the city, province abbreviation and postal code (letter-digit-letter, digit-letter-digit), and Toronto follows the same pattern; a unit number such as Unit 200 or #3 refers to a suite inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

My experience at this place was not a good one. What concerned me the most wasn’t even the food, but the way I saw another customer being treated. The treatment was rude and completely unjustified, and it made me feel very uncomfortable. I found the food to be averageβ€”nothing that stood out enough to make me want to come back. But after witnessing that situation, I was left with the impression that the service depends on the manager’s mood, and it worries me that next time I could be the one receiving that kind of treatment. Good customer service should be consistent and respectful toward everyone. Unfortunately, after this experience, I would not feel comfortable returning, and I cannot recommend this place.

So GOOOD!!! I look forward to coming again! Totally loved the personal family welcoming feeling and atmosphere. They connect with you, and actually care! They take personal pride in what they have and offer! And the Peameal Bacon with Egg and cheese was amazing!!! Loved every moment of it! THANK YOU!

In a city full of pretentious places and best new brunches, take yourself to what feels like the most peeled back, dependable breakfast place I have been to in the city. They stick to the basics with some fun inclusions. The place is small, quaint and I could hear a pin drop this morning. I hope no influencers have or do make this a β€œviral” spot. It is not trying to be and I love that.

Avenue Open Kitchen feels like stepping straight into old Toronto. A true blue-collar diner tucked into an old townhouse just off Spadina, serving unapologetically hearty classics: peameal bacon, Montreal-style smoked meat, bacon and eggs. I had the Montreal-style sandwich. It was generous, flavorful, and deeply satisfying. The owner even added the pickle, exactly as any proper Montreal sandwich deserves. The place was packed for breakfast, which tells you everything you need to know. The bathroom is up a set of rickety back stairs that practically sing early 20th-century Toronto. Any downtown lifer will recognize the vibe instantly. Small but clean. If you’re looking for polished brunch, this isn’t it. If you want honest food, big portions, and a slice of classic Toronto soul, this is your spot.

Friendly and comfortable spot with decent food. The burgers have great value and the portion sizes are quite large; some other things were a little expensive, but overall a satisfying spot to grab some brunch!
