Visited ER twice this May due to sudden persistent health issues, had lots of very confusing symptoms simultaneously. I would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Joel Lockwood for his incredible care and attention to patients coming into the ER. He took a detailed look at my medical history and was able to get to the bottom of my health problems. I felt very heard and seen while discussing my symptoms and am very grateful that he wasn’t dismissive to my concerns and was able to give me a clear diagnosis. Also wanted to give a shoutout to the very profession staff that assisted me throughout my visit. I felt safe and in good hands at St. Michael’s

I would like to sincerely thank the doctors and nurses in ICU. I will never forget the great care and attentiveness of the surgeons and the nurses. You are all so wonderful and I am so proud to speak highly of your hospital and the expertise and quality care you give. You are truly a treasure.

This was one of the most disturbing and dehumanizing experiences I have ever witnessed in a healthcare setting. My boyfriend and I are youth, and he arrived at the emergency room with a serious eye injury after being involved in a fight. His eye had been hit, his vision was impaired, and he was struggling to walk when we arrived. He was clearly intoxicated and extremely distressed, which we explained immediately because he was having trouble seeing and communicating due to the injury and alcohol. Despite coming to the emergency department for help, the receptionist immediately became hostile. While my boyfriend was trying to explain what happened, she abruptly cut him off and said, “Are you mad at me or something?” This shocked everyone because nothing disrespectful had been said. She then had this weird smile and said, “I think you should try talking to me with more respect.” We explained again that he was intoxicated, injured, and struggling to see and walk, and that we were just trying to get him help. Instead of showing any compassion, she looked at him and said, “Can you talk more formally?” Imagine being told to “talk more formally” while intoxicated, injured, struggling

I had to visit a few days ago. Appearance-wise, it is a very intimidating place. However, everyone I encountered (triage, registration, 2 nurses and a doctor) were super kind, knowledgeable and made me feel heard. I was in and out rather quickly and they helped. There is a screen that tells you where you are in the queue, which helps make things less stressful.

The first time I came here, the doctor didn’t even want to prescribe me any medication, even after seeing that I could barely breathe. It was only after I told him I had asthma that he gave me a prescription for a puffer. I waited for 3 hours during my first visit, which was just like a complete waste of time, as I had expected the doctor to provide some kind of treatment or medicine for my illness. Well I didn’t learn my lesson and came back a second time, definitely my last visit here!! Be cautious and really think twice before deciding to get admitted here. They will prioritize you if it’s your first time visiting this hospital. On my second visit, I received unacceptable and false information. I waited for 6 hours, and patients who arrived after me were seen and discharged before me. This Filipina staff member told me that it’s not a “first come, first served” system but based on urgency. However, every patient who comes to a hospital believes their situation is urgent so how do they even define urgency? Is it only when someone looks like they’re dying in front of them? That was just one of the most unacceptable reason I’ve ever heard I understand the hospital is busy, but t
