I had my cleaning with Hannah, and I can’t recommend her enough! She is by far the best dental hygienist I’ve ever had, She was incredibly gentle, thorough, and professional, making the entire experience comfortable . She took the time to explain everything, answered all my questions, and made sure I felt at ease throughout the appointment. Sandy Hill was my dental clinic when I moved to Ottawa Downtown in 2018. When I moved to the countryside in 2022, I decided to try a clinic closer to home. Well, I am back at Sandy Hill. The team is amazing, so attentive to their patients' needs. This clinic meets my expectations as a nervous patient in every way. It's worth driving 30km each way!

I had an appointment at this clinic last Tuesday, and after taking a few days to process the experience, I feel compelled to share it. Before the procedure began, I clearly informed the doctor that I typically require additional anesthesia because it wears off quickly for me, and that I have a low pain tolerance. During the treatment, the anesthesia started to weaken and I began experiencing severe pain. I signaled multiple times with my hands but was told it was “not the time.” The procedure continued while I was crying from the pain. I felt completely powerless and unable to properly communicate, especially with my mouth open and filled with instruments and cotton. At no point did the doctor proactively check whether I needed more anesthesia. Being asked “Are you okay?” near the end of drilling is not meaningful when you physically cannot respond. Throughout most of the procedure, suction was focused only on the treated area, while saliva accumulated in the rest of my mouth. I was told not to swallow or move my tongue — but swallowing is a natural reflex. It is unrealistic to expect a patient to suppress that while feeling overwhelmed and in pain. Been going here for a few years, Always super super impressed the staff here go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and always leave happy! Barb will always welcome you openly, Hygienists are always so happy and smiling, both dentists are amazing as well! I don’t even like going to the dentist but if i’m going here I know i’ll be great and in good hands. Thanks guys! 🩷

I had an outstanding experience at Sandy Hill dental centre from start to finish! The receptionist was incredibly helpful and accommodating with my last-minute appointment — professional and efficient. I was so impressed with how smoothly everything was handled. My hygienist was amazing — gentle, thorough, and explained every step of the cleaning in a way that made me feel completely at ease. The doctor was equally fantastic: knowledgeable, and walk me through every detail of my exam. Truly one of the best dental centre — highly recommend!
